Jim West makes history at the 2013 AKC Pointing Breed Gun Dog Championships by winning with a German Wirehaired Pointer, and wins both stakes, in the same year, for the second time!!

Maddie is the winner of the 2013 AKC National Pointing Breeds Gun Dog Championship Retrieving stake. This is the second time that Jim has won this prestigious event! She will be bred in the near future. Keep checking back for updates.

"Wiley" is a very promising young dog. He started the spring of 2011 with a bang, winning a number of puppy stakes right out of the gate. He went off to summer camp and became a broke dog. He qualified for the 2011 GWPCA Nationals in his first Open broke dog stake. At Nationals, he won the Derby Classic, was third in the Field Futurity and Runner-up in the National Championship (a one hour stake). He finished his Field Championship one week later, with a 5 point major, at the tender age of 20 months.
"Wiley" has gone on to make history in 2013 for German Wirehaired Pointers. He is the FIRST of the breed to WIN the AKC Pointing Breeds Gun Dog Championship 1 hour stake. His legacy has yet to be written.

The first time Jim West made history at the AKC National Pointing Breeds Gun Dog Championships was in 2010, when he was the first handler to win both stakes in the same year..... & he did it with the same dog,
 2xCH/2xNGDC Slick's Cuttin' Wild, "Joker", a German Shorthair Pointer owned by Mike Patrick.
Joker was just over two years old when he accomplished this feat & went on to finish his Field Championship the next week. He also became an Amateur Field Champion.

GCH/NAFC/DC/AFC Ariel's Justa Gotta Go Now, "Louie"; a German Wirehaired Pointer owned by Bernee Brawn, was the Non-Retrieving Championship Runner-Up that year. He defeated 96 dogs in one stake, easily catapulting him to the GWPCA's #1 Open Gun Dog status for that year! "Louie" continues to be a force in the field trial world!!
