WILD WEST KENNELS....Home of National Champions & World Class Gun Dogs

Some very special dogs have passed through these kennels over the years. This page pays tribute to the memory of each of them and helps us remember........

NAFC/DC/AFC/GCH Ariel's Justa Gotta Go Now;  "Louis James"

Louie was an exceptional animal. He excelled at everything he was asked to do, as long as he understood what you wanted and he was treated well. He was the first GWP dual champion to become a grand champion. He was a talented, goofy, affectionate and wonderful boy. He helped raise our granddaughter and endured hours of brushing and "Playing vet"  (& dog trainer) with her!
He will be missed, but his legacy will continue with his offspring.

Miss Kitty was the most wonderfully sweet dog. She was a spry little dog who seemed to be able to win over anyone. She was an excellent mother and produced some of the top dogs from our kennel. She was responsible for "starting" countless young dogs in the field by teaching them how and where to run. She was my first national field champion, but, beyond that, she was my girl!! There is another empty spot in the house, that I wasn't prepared for, but her memory will always make me smile and her pups will always make me proud.

FC Ariels S'Shot Justa One Hot Mama, "Stella"
"Stella" put on an impressive performance at the 2013 GWPCA National Amateur Championship....and then went to be with Fran. She touched the lives of many people and everyone that loved her was present. Her legacy will live on with her pups. We'll never forget you ol' girl!

NatCH/FC Showtime's Rollin' Thunder
Ricky was the dog that helped put Jim "on the map", so to speak. He was an incredible natural athlete that had a special bond with Jim and was the first National Champion to move into the house full-time. He always gave 110% and had the biggest heart. He was a loyal foot warmer to Rhonda and, once he learned how to play, was always a happy clown. He will forever be remembered.

CH/FC Steel Creek's Real Windy

Windy was a wonderful little dog that won her share of stakes.....including wild bird championships. She lost a leg to a venomous bite of some sort, but had her All Age mentality and her huge heart intact. She won many stakes on 3 legs. She was never able to be bred.....so she retired to Rhonda's father's farm in northern IA, where she enjoyed breaking into the garbage and taking long runs to visit the neighbors!

FC/AFC Kojac's Peggy (below....)

Peggy was one of the two that brought this sport to Jim and helped him develop his training technique and handling style. She was ranked in the Top Ten and helped raise Jim's kids, teaching both of them to hunt. She gave her all right up to the end.......
rest in peace, Peggy.

DC/AFC Soo Line's Allied Freighter

Ansel was the beginning of this journey for Rhonda. He was her first dog, chosen on his coloring alone, and became a Field Champion, Show champion and Amateur Field Champion. He was the foundation for all that has been accomplished under the Brillow prefix. He spent 24/7 with Rhonda and they had a bond that will likely never be repeated......he is missed but his legacy lives on.

FC Keg Creek's Rising Cooper

Cooper was a handful and a half.....but what a classy animal! He had a successful career prior to being injured and retired at a young age. However, it seems as though he found his calling. In 2008 and 2012 he was the Top Producing All Age Sire and in 2012 he was the Top Producing Dual Champion Sire.
FC Flashy Ricky Ticky Rocknfire
Owner Doug Spencer

"Rocky" was a very naturally forward, stylish and intense dog. He was a pleasure to have around.....a true gentleman and companion. We were very happy to have him on our string. He was taken from us too soon.
FC MPK's Special Edition

Owner Ken Chenoweth

"Sonny" was a heartbreaker as a young dog. One day he showed tons of potential.....and other days he was a slug. Fortunately, patience paid off and Sonny became a successful field trial dog. At the start of his broke dog career he earned almost 20 second places in a row. We called him the Bridesmaid. BUT, when he broke through with that first win......he never held back! He went on to win over and over.

CH Brillows MIA Spoiled Peach

Owner Rhonda Haukoos

Mia was a beautiful example of a German Wirehaired Pointer. She hated to show in the conformation ring, but obtained her championship anyways. She was a joy in the field. She had one of her best performances in her field futurty year. Due to life's ups and downs, I placed her with a friend of mine who enjoyed her as a hunting and house dog until she died at 14 years old.

FC/AFC Trace's Silver Twist

Owner Bob Erbe

"Hook" was a member of our "hot dog' All Age string. He won more than his fair share. He loved grapes (yes, I know, now research says that grapes are toxic and horrible.....Hook and I didn't know that) and would peel them before he ate them. Really, he did! He was clown and a pleasure to be around. Thanks for hanging with us Hook.
